Staff freebies or a business solution?
Some factions of upper management have a misguided view of events; they get in the way of daily business life, they are a nuisance, and in some cases, a necessary evil. If you stage your event on a non-working day, the turn out will be far less, and after a few drinks, staff members can loosen their tongues about their feelings towards the company, management and policy.
Forward-thinking companies realise that events are a time to stop and think, to give staff some relief from daily pressures and collect their thoughts. It’s a receptive environment for management to communicate messages or improve bonds within the company. It's an ideal way to reward staff or say thank you for a successful quarter with a relaxing or invigorating activity day.
At Office Events we talk with many different types of companies from all sectors and sizes. In our experience, it’s often the market leaders that have the most events, and those that are trying to catch up are the companies that would rather keep noses to the grindstone. Is it because they are market leaders that they are out celebrating? Or is it the celebrating that makes them market leaders? We don’t suggest we have the answer to that question, but certainly it is an interesting observation.
Events can be as much of an investment in propelling the business forward as a reward for reaching targets.
